The 2nd Amazon Climate Week 2026 was officially announced during a cocktail reception held at Casa SESI Indústria Criativa in Belém, as part of the parallel programming of COP30. The event was promoted by the Ethos Institute in partnership with Hydro, co-organizer of the COP+ Journey, a multi-sectoral movement led by the Federation of Industries of the State of Pará (FIEPA). The launch confirmed the continuation of the initiative after the success of the first edition, held in July of this year.
The meeting brought together representatives from companies, civil society organizations, Amazonian leaders, and various institutional partners. Throughout the program, the collaborative nature of Climate Week was reinforced, which has already established itself as an important space for coordinating solutions to the environmental, social, and cultural challenges of the region.
The president of the Federation of Industries of the State of Pará and of the COP+ Journey, Alex Carvalho, stated that the productive sector said yes to Climate Week and that it sees itself as a link in this chain for sustainable development. “Belém has transformed. Today, we proudly proclaim our origins to the whole world. We are collectively building a Belém that is respected and commands respect as a leader and reference in the climate sustainability agenda, the socio-environmental development agenda, and with economic competitiveness,” he emphasized.
Hydro's CEO, Anderson Baranov, highlighted the importance of collective construction and seeking solutions by strengthening partnerships. "When we choose to be part of the solution, of the construction, things become easier and we will have a much better society," he stated.
The president of the Ethos Institute, Carlos Magri, highlighted that Climate Week aims to transform Belém into the permanent capital of the climate debate. “We will continue the legacy of COP30, monitoring commitments and agreements. After all, Brazil assumes the presidency of COP from now on. Our objective is to strengthen the commitment of the Global South, connecting the Amazon region and other leaders from other regions. Our mission is to see Belém recognized as the climate capital,” he stated.

The inaugural edition, held in July 2025, stood out for its diverse activities and the integration between different sectors. In addition to the main program, self-managed actions by communities, businesses, and collectives broadened the debate with practical experiences from the territory, strengthening local participation in climate dialogues.
With the confirmation of the 2026 edition, the Amazon Climate Week is preparing to be a point of convergence post-COP30. The event will bring together experts, social movements, researchers, and representatives from the productive sector to evaluate the results of the negotiations in Belém and propose new paths for strategic themes, such as energy and just transition. The proposal is for the Week to function as a permanent space for monitoring, critical evaluation, and collaborative construction of solutions.
