The Federation of Industries of the State of Pará and the COP+ Journey, a movement led by the federation, remain prominent in the Blue Zone, the official venue for negotiations at the 30th United Nations Conference on Climate Change, COP30. Present at the stand of the National Confederation of Industry (CNI), the federation participated in the official opening of the space, where it also held a panel on renewable energies in the Amazon, this Tuesday, the 11th.

The CNI booth is the space for the programming and actions of the Brazilian productive sector for COP30 in the Blue Zone. The space was officially opened this Tuesday, with the presence of leaders from Brazilian industry. The president of CNI, Ricardo Alban, spoke of his satisfaction at being in Belém for COP30, debating topics so relevant to Brazil and the world.

"Brazil cannot waste opportunities that are presenting themselves to regions that need social development. The Equatorial Margin is a possibility to reduce these inequalities, and it needs to be done in a technical way, with the possibility of dialogue," highlighted Ricardo Alban .

Alex Carvalho, president of the Federation of Industries of the State of Pará and of the COP+ Conference, highlighted the potential of Amazonian industry in leading a greener economy.

“We need to take our best products to the world. We have a bioeconomy before us that is dispersed and has little impact, but with adequate infrastructure, it has the potential to gain scalability, with products that will bring extreme satisfaction to global consumers,” said Carvalho.

Carvalho also highlighted Brazil's potential for a just transition. “We are always portrayed as the country of tomorrow, but a nation isn't built by thinking about tomorrow. We need a country that thinks and plans. We have the advantage and maturity to lead a socio-economic, environmentally sound, and sustainable development agenda. We need to remember that Brazil is one; there is no longer room for colonialism, neocolonialism, or segregation among ourselves. The opportunity is before us. We are very eager and hopeful that COP will open a curtain and a window to a new Brazil,” concluded the president of FIEPA.

Ricardo Mussa, chair of the Sustainable Business COP30, the SB COP, highlighted what the SB COP is: a CNI initiative that brought the private sector's priorities in the climate discussion to the UN Conference. The initiative concentrates the recommendations of more than 60 countries and more than 30 institutions and sectors representing over 40 million companies worldwide. “It's the first time the private sector has such a large representation, and the idea now is to have such a strong influence on negotiations, especially through example. Companies are presenting great success stories here in Belém. So, I think that today we are showcasing to the world what can be done,” stated Mussa.

The opening also featured the participation of Dan Ioschpe, COP30 Champion, and Isabel Itikawa, president of the Federation of Industries of Roraima and of Ação Pró-Amazônia, who highlighted the launch of Ação Pró-Amazônia's priority agenda during COP30. “This agenda was created in partnership with the CNI (National Confederation of Industry) and was built on six pillars: financing, taxation, energy infrastructure, transportation, and the environment. We expect that the demands being presented here will move from paper to reality, so that we can truly see the potential of our Amazon's productive sector occupy the prominent place it deserves,” she stated.
