Promoted by the COP+ Journey, a multi-sector movement led by the Federation, the forum will bring together nine projects from the Amazonian industry that are contributing to the decarbonization of the region.

Innovative and sustainable initiatives that generate a positive impact on the Amazonian economy will be recognized at the Sustainable Industrial Excellence Forum, a parallel event to COP30, which will be held on the afternoon of November 13th (Thursday) at the headquarters of the Federation of Industries of the State of Pará (FIEPA). Promoted by the COP+ Journey, a multi-sectoral movement led by the Federation, the forum will bring together nine projects from Amazonian industries that are contributing to the decarbonization of the region.
The initiatives were selected through the COP+ Conference Case Study Call for Proposals and will be presented to an audience comprised of representatives from the National Confederation of Industry (CNI), presidents of industry federations from various Brazilian states, and national and international authorities. The event will begin at 1:30 PM in the Albano Franco Auditorium, with registration open to the public through the FIEPA website.
In total, 76 solutions were submitted to the call for proposals, and after analysis by a committee formed by experts from the COP+ Journey's Board of Trustees and members of the FIEPA System, the projects with the greatest capacity to innovate, generate real impacts in the region, and inspire other companies were selected. The projects that won first place in each category will be presented at the Forum. The other winners will receive a certificate of excellence awarded by the COP+ Journey. All entries will be included in the Sustainable Industry Case Showcase, a digital publication summarizing all the projects. “With this selection, we can give visibility to good practices and projects that have been successful in the Amazon, as well as inspire other industries to replicate these good practices, which need to resonate,” highlights Alex Carvalho, president of FIEPA and the COP+ Journey.
During the Forum of Excellence, the “Guidelines for a Low-Carbon Industry” will also be presented, consisting of ten recommendations for a new environmental, social, and economic agenda in the Brazilian Amazon, formulated by the COP+ Journey committees; in addition to the next steps of the movement until 2030. “As a productive sector, we are aware of our responsibility to propose concrete solutions based on decarbonization, socio-bioeconomy, and a development model that combines economic growth, social inclusion, and environmental conservation,” explains the president.
Learn about the solutions covered by the call for proposals.
In the “Public Management” category, the winner was the project “Water for All – Water Security and Climate Resilience on Combu Island,” developed by the State Secretariat for the Environment, Climate and Sustainability (Semas-PA). Implemented in the Environmental Protection Area (APA) of Combu Island, in the Metropolitan Region of Belém, the project stood out for bringing potable water, dignity, and quality of life to more than 1,200 residents of Combu, through nature-based solutions and social technologies adapted to the Amazonian riverside reality.

The Deputy Secretary for Environmental Management and Regulation at Semas, Rodolpho Zahluth Bastos, emphasized the transformative and collaborative nature of the initiative. “'Water for All' is a concrete example that it is possible to combine social technology, water justice, and environmental sustainability. Guaranteeing potable water in the Amazon is guaranteeing dignity and resilience for those who live in and protect this territory. This recognition reinforces that Pará is on the right track in building public policies with nature-based and people-centered solutions,” he stated.
The startup Amazon Rhiira won in the Special Category “Carbon-Intensive Sectors” with the project “Green Technology for Decarbonizing Motor Vehicles”. The patented device from the Pará-based company reduces black carbon emissions by up to 96% and was designed for use in land and water vehicles, combining technological innovation and environmental commitment. “Representing Pará and the Amazon in such a strategic call for proposals as the COP+ Journey shows that we do have the capacity to innovate sustainably. Amazon Rhiira's technology was born to protect the environment and transform the way we deal with carbon emissions,” emphasized entrepreneur Tatiana Yamamoto.
In the “Partnerships and Sustainable Value Chains” category, the winner was the “Boiteca Project” by TRC Agroflorestal Ltda., an initiative that industrializes teak wood in Santa Maria das Barreiras, in southwestern Pará. The project integrates wood cultivation with livestock production in the region, directly contributing to job creation, income generation, and strengthening the regional bioeconomy. “The Boiteca Project symbolizes the integration between livestock, forestry, and industry from a perspective of sustainable and low-carbon development. This recognition reinforces TRC's role as a benchmark in the responsible production of teak in the Amazon, and demonstrates that it is possible to align productive efficiency, value generation, and environmental conservation,” highlighted Fausto Takizawa, Director of Research, Development, and Institutional Relations at TRC.

According to the director, the company's vision is of an integrated forestry value chain, capable of removing carbon, adding value to planted tropical timber, reducing pressure on native forests, and promoting more sustainable livestock farming. "This award is an incentive to continue innovating and expanding the reach of this sustainable model," concludes Takizawa.
The category also recognized Barcalat Chocolates in 2nd place, a small company whose purpose is to value cocoa and local knowledge as paths to preservation and the generation of positive impact. “Being recognized by the COP+ Journey is a great achievement for us. This recognition reinforces that the work of strengthening communities and transforming forest ingredients into products of global value is essential for the future of the Amazonian bioeconomy,” stated Yasmin Cantuária, co-founder of Barcalat Chocolates.
And in 3rd place, the “Forest Reserve Protection and Biodiversity Monitoring Program” of Agropalma SA. According to Agropalma's Sustainability Director, Tulio Dias Brito, the recognition validates the commitment the company has made to climate action for over 20 years. “Our forest protection and biodiversity monitoring programs did not arise from a recent market demand – they are the result of our business premise based on sustainability. The continuity of our operations depends on the surrounding ecosystem. Economic development and standing forests are not opposites, but complementary in the Amazonian bioeconomy,” he emphasized.
In the “Renewable Energies and Energy Efficiency” category, 1st place went to the project “Biogas and Energy Transition in the Amazon,” by Guamá Tratamento de Resíduos. For Reginaldo Bezerra, Guamá's Business Director in the Northern Region, the recognition reinforces the company's commitment to innovation and sustainability. “This project represents a milestone not only for Guamá, but for the entire society, by transforming biogas generated from waste into clean energy. It proves that it is possible to unite economic development and environmental responsibility, contributing concretely to the decarbonization of the Amazon and to a more sustainable future,” he highlighted. 2nd place was won by the project “Energy efficiency and utilization of wood processing waste” by EBATA Produtos Florestais; and 3rd place by the solution “Hot kiln loading of billets in Lamination I” by SINOBRAS.
In the category “Circular Economy and Solid Waste Management”, the winning projects were: “Transforming waste into forests” by Mineração Paragominas SA (1st place); “Solid Waste Masterplan” by Norsk Hydro Brasil (2nd place); and the project “CicloChain: Sustainable Integration of Production Chains”, led by MLX Confecções Indústria e Comércio Eireli (3rd place). For Priscilla Vieira, CEO of MLX Confecções, the recognition represents a symbolic step towards the industry that Pará wants to project to the world. “CicloChain is proof that the Amazon can lead the transformation towards a global circular economy. It is the result of a union of companies that believe in innovation with purpose, that see waste as a new resource and technology as a tool for transparency and positive impact. Participating in the COP+ Journey and being among the award winners motivates us to continue investing in research, partnerships and circular practices. We believe that the Amazon can be a world reference in sustainable solutions and we are committed to being part of this construction,” he stated.
In the category “Technological Innovation for Reducing GHG Emissions”, the winning projects were: “PRO Carbono”, by Bayer (1st place); “High-precision rehabilitation maximizing results and minimizing costs” by Mineração Paragominas SA (2nd place) and “Sustainable Web: CO₂ Reduction in Websites and ESG Valuation” by the startup Web Aplicações (3rd place).
The “Sustainable Web” initiative transforms ordinary websites into low-carbon versions, reducing CO₂ emissions by up to 95% per visit and demonstrating that it is possible to build a greener, more efficient, and climate-responsible internet. “Receiving this recognition from the COP+ Journey is very significant for us at Web Aplicações. We are an Amazonian startup that believes technology can and should play an active role in the transition to a low-carbon economy. Being among the top three cases in the Amazon, alongside large companies like Vale, Hydro, and Bayer, shows that innovation also originates in small businesses committed to great purposes,” highlighted Marcos Vinicios de Campos Melo, Founder & CEO of Web Aplicações.
In the special category “Amazonian Bioeconomy” , 1st place was won by the project “Bioeconomy: agriculture, innovation and sustainability in the palm oil production chain” from the Brazilian Association of Palm Oil Producers (ABRAPALMA). 2nd place went to the project “Indigenous Chocolates of the Middle Xingu”, by Norte Energia SA. For the Director of Commercialization, Regulation, Socio-environmental and Sustainability at Norte Energia, Sílvia Cabral, the recognition reinforces the relevance of the company's actions focused on sustainability and the valorization of the bioeconomy. “The Indigenous Chocolates of the Middle Xingu project shows that it is possible to keep the forest standing and develop income-generating actions. This result reflects the company's commitment to the region where the Belo Monte Hydroelectric Plant is located,” she states.
The 3rd place in the category went to the project “ Sustenta.bio ”, an alliance for strengthening the socio-bioeconomy in protected areas promoted by Vale. The company was also recognized in the category “Social Responsibility and Sustainable Development”, in which it won the first three places with the projects “Meta Florestal 2030”; “AMAZ Impact Accelerator” and “Jornada Amazônia Platform”, respectively; and in the category “Transformation of Industrial Processes”, with the project “Mega Hubs” which achieved 1st place.
According to Patrícia Daros, Director of Nature-Based Solutions at Vale, the recognition demonstrates the path the company has been taking, with innovative solutions and positive impacts for communities. “We believe that nature-based solutions are essential to guarantee a more sustainable future for the Amazon. Through the Vale Fund, we reinforce our commitment to the region's development and forest conservation, investing in initiatives that promote environmental restoration and value the economy of the standing forest. We continue to build alliances and partnerships to boost the bioeconomy, as we understand the importance of the private sector as an agent in this process,” she emphasizes.
In the same category, “Industrial Process Transformation,” the project “Sustainable steam generation through the combustion of açaí seeds,” by CERPA Cervejaria Paraense SA, was also recognized in 2nd place.
