From the first day of the Conference, the Federation established an intense schedule, both in the official COP pavilions and at the Brazilian Industry Hub.

With a networking event that brought together more than 400 guests on November 10th in Belém, including governors, presidents of Federations of Industries from various states, and important national and international stakeholders, the Federation of Industries of the State of Pará System (FIEPA System) began a broad and strategic participation in the 30th United Nations Conference on Climate Change, COP30.
As host to Brazilian industry and spokesperson for the Amazonian productive sector during the Conference, the Federation coordinates and participates in several thematic panels, both in the Blue Zone, at the National Confederation of Industry (CNI) stand, and in the Green Zone, in the Pará Pavilion. In addition, it promotes an intense parallel agenda at the Brazilian Industry Hub, FIEPA's own space dedicated to bringing together the actions of the industrial sector during COP30 in Belém.

At FIEPA, a high-level networking event promoted by CNI, on the 10th, opened the program. The event brought together names such as the president of the Confederation, Ricardo Alban; the governor of Pará, Helder Barbalho; and the ministers Jader Filho, of Cities, and Celso Sabino, of Tourism, in addition to other governors and business leaders. In his opening remarks, the president of FIEPA, Alex Carvalho, reinforced that the integration between governments and the productive sector is essential to transform the potential of the Amazon into a model of sustainable development for the country.
“Holding COP30 in Belém is the result of courageous leadership, and I want to publicly acknowledge Governor Helder Barbalho, the federal government, and the governors of the Legal Amazon for their dedication and commitment to this agenda. This joint effort inspires and encourages us to be better, to do more for our region. Speaking about FIEPA is also to express this feeling of gratitude and recognition for the collective work that is making the Amazon a protagonist in discussions about the future of the planet,” Carvalho emphasized.
During the event, Governor Helder Barbalho reinforced the symbolism of choosing Belém as the host city for COP30, highlighting the overcoming of old stigmas and the recognition of the Amazon region's capacity to host a global event.

“Everyone here can see that President Lula’s decision to choose Belém as the host city for COP was the right one. It’s a demonstration that we are capable. We spent a long time under suspicion, when many thought it wouldn’t be possible for Brazil, from the Amazon, to hold an event of this magnitude. Today, Belém turns the page from question mark to exuberance, so that, from the Amazon, we can discuss the environment in a beautiful and welcoming city, thanks to the unity of all the Brazilian people,” declared the governor.
According to the president of the CNI (National Confederation of Industry), Ricardo Alban, joint action between industry, government, and society is important to drive a new cycle of sustainable growth in the country. "Thank you very much for being here, for being part of Brazil's new industry, and for contributing to the construction of a new model of economic development. Even with our great diversity, we are one country," he stated.
At the CNI booth, FIEPA highlights the potential of regional industry.
On Tuesday (11), FIEPA participated in the official opening of the CNI stand, in the Blue Zone, at Parque da Cidade. On the occasion, Alex Carvalho highlighted the potential of the Amazon industry in leading a greener economy. “We need to take to the world what we have best. We have a bioeconomy that, with adequate infrastructure, can gain scale, with products capable of enchanting global markets. We have sufficient advantage and maturity to lead an environmentally correct and sustainable socio-economic development agenda,” he stated.

FIEPA's initiatives at COP30 have fostered constant dialogue with business and institutional leaders from Brazil and around the world, strengthening strategic connections and the exchange of experiences. Among the interlocutors are Ricardo Mussa, chair of the Sustainable Business COP30 (SB COP); Dan Ioschpe, high-level climate champion of COP30; Paul Polman, ambassador of SB COP; Tennant Reed, director of Climate Change and Energy at the Australian Industry Group; and the president of COP30, Ambassador André Corrêa do Lago.
“They are institutional partners that provide important exchanges of ideas and perspectives on new projects and actions for the development of national industry, especially the Amazonian industry. COP has been a huge opportunity for these leaders to learn about the peculiarities and needs of the Amazonian states and to contribute with their expertise, resources, and institutional articulation so that we can advance in infrastructure, logistics, innovation, and socio-bioeconomy,” added the president of FIEPA.
“This is the first time that the private sector has such a large representation, and the idea now is to be able to influence negotiations, especially through example. Companies are presenting great success stories here in Belém. So, I think that today we are showcasing to the world what can be done,” stated Ricardo Mussa, chair of SB COP, a global coalition launched by CNI that concentrates the recommendations of more than 60 countries and more than 30 institutions and sectors representing more than 40 million companies worldwide.
Dialogue for a low-carbon economy

On the 12th, FIEPA hosted one of the most relevant events in the national industry: the 'SB COP Business Dialogue for a Low Carbon Economy', promoted by CNI to foster debate and the exchange of experiences between Brazilian industries, international counterparts, and multilateral organizations. The objective is to boost the transition to a low-carbon economy and discuss the progress and deliverables of the SB COP/CNI.
During the meeting, SB COP recognized 48 success stories from the private sector. The “SB COP Awards” highlighted innovative initiatives to address global climate challenges. “Doing this is about internalizing wealth and knowledge. Having them here symbolizes the opening of new opportunities, so that national and international investments can come to our land, transforming realities and overcoming challenges that are still present, such as the fact that 45% of the population lives below the poverty line,” stated Alex Carvalho.
The event was attended by Governor Helder Barbalho, who reinforced the strategic role of the Amazon in the global climate agenda and the importance of including the productive sector as a protagonist in this transformation. “It was a collective effort, from the government and society, that gave us the certainty that we made the right decision in bringing the biggest climate change event on the planet to the Amazonian atmosphere. We are prepared and very proud to show that we are capable,” declared the governor.
FIEPA's agenda at COP30 continues in the coming days with thematic panels in the Blue Zone and Green Zone pavilions of Parque da Cidade, in addition to parallel programs in the spaces of the Brazilian Industry Hub.
