At 52, Eraldo Cunha faced the challenge of updating his skills and reentering the job market. With experience in warehouse operations, he sought opportunities to expand his knowledge and advance his career. The chance came through the Capacita COP30 program, promoted by the Government of Pará in partnership with SENAI, which offered free courses in strategic areas for COP30.
“First, the possibility of a cost-free course at an institution of great credibility. Second, the chance to update myself with new tools, methodologies, and techniques,” says Eraldo. During the course, he stood out for his dedication and took every opportunity to learn not only about warehouse techniques but also about team management, process organization, and the use of new technologies. “The classes and practical activities gave me confidence and motivation to face new professional challenges,” he recalls.
Shortly after completing the course, Eraldo got a job as a warehouse supervisor at a transmission and event production company in Belém. The experience transformed his career, increasing his income and self-esteem. “I finally achieved my professional reintegration and see new opportunities emerging. Now I want to keep specializing to stay updated and competitive,” he says. For him, programs like Capacita COP30 are opportunities that anyone, regardless of age, should seize: “It’s the perfect chance to learn new skills and broaden horizons.”
The Capacita COP30 program aims to prepare the population to meet the demands of an international event while strengthening strategic sectors of the local economy. COP30, which will bring together representatives from various countries to discuss climate change and sustainability, offers Pará the opportunity to project its image on the global stage, boost tourism, hospitality, services, and gastronomy, and generate employment and income for the population. In this context, the partnership with SENAI has become essential.
“SENAI brought its recognized expertise in technical and professional training, ensuring quality, innovation, and practices aligned with the demands of the labor market,” highlights Andrey Rabelo, coordinator of the Capacita COP30 program. More than 7,500 free spots were offered by SENAI in both in-person and online formats, covering courses in civil construction, food, IT, safety, services, customer service, and more. These trainings were held in cities such as Belém, Barcarena, Castanhal, Bragança, Paragominas, and Marabá, as well as in another 138 municipalities through the SENAI Digital School, ensuring professional training reached the entire state.

For Dário Lemos, SENAI Pará’s regional director, the institution’s involvement in the program goes beyond technical training. “Our goal is to prepare professionals to work in essential sectors of Pará’s economy, leaving a legacy of qualification that goes far beyond COP30. We want to transform lives, expand opportunities, and strengthen the competitiveness of our state.”
Graduates of the program report concrete transformations in their lives. Eder Araújo, who completed the Residential Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Mechanic course, now works independently, serving customers in air-conditioning maintenance. “I knew nothing about refrigeration. I had an excellent experience, both theoretical and practical, and soon started working on my own. The SENAI classes were essential for my learning and professional growth. This program was a fantastic opportunity—it changed my life—and now I plan to keep improving with other courses,” he says.
Mateus Oliveira, who took the Warehouse Operations course, also shares his professional achievement. “Before Capacita COP30 I was unemployed, without experience, looking for an opportunity. The practical company visits were a major part of my training and were key to me getting my job. My plans are to grow in the career I’m now in,” says Mateus.
Eraldo, Eder, and Mateus exemplify the program’s reach, but Capacita COP30 impacts many areas of the job market. Tourism, hospitality, gastronomy, events, infrastructure, and food production were identified as strategic sectors for the conference. “These training opportunities are preparing professionals who will play a central role during the conference. This ensures that the local population is ready to meet the demands of an international event, improving the quality of services and strengthening Pará’s image worldwide,” explains Andrey Rabelo.

SENAI’s broad network is another key factor in the program’s success. With physical units and the SENAI Digital School, the courses reach over 140 municipalities. “This wide reach ensures that professional training is not concentrated only in the capital but extends to different regions of the state, benefiting people of all ages and backgrounds,” Andrey adds.
According to Dário Lemos, SENAI’s challenge is to combine technical excellence, continuous updating, and responsiveness to market needs: “Our commitment is to prepare professionals who will not only work during COP30 but also carry skills and competencies that will be valuable throughout their careers,” he emphasizes.
