Amidst the discussions at COP 30, a new symbol of innovation begins to navigate the waters of the Amazon. The SESI Connected Health Vessel, launched this Friday (14), in Belém, represents a significant advance by uniting technology, sustainability and human care to bring health care to industry workers who live or work in riverside regions of Pará, as a parallel action to the global event's program.

The vessel is a pilot project developed to address one of the biggest challenges in the Amazon: ensuring access to primary healthcare in isolated regions, where distance and geography hinder regular medical care.

With satellite connectivity, the structure enables teleconsultations, examinations, and in-person care by a multidisciplinary team, ensuring primary assistance to industry workers in remote areas, as well as to riverside communities.

The project is the result of a Technical Cooperation Agreement between SESI – National Department, the National Council of SESI and the Ministry of Health, consolidating a partnership aimed at promoting well-being and expanding access to health in hard-to-reach territories.

During the inauguration, the importance of using technology and integrating health, industry, and regional development to expand access to essential services in remote areas of the Amazon was highlighted.

The Minister of Health, Alexandre Padilha, emphasized the relevance of onboard technology as a tool to expand primary care in remote areas: "The Ministry of Health sees initiatives like the SESI Connected Health program as crucial tools to expand access to primary care. The vision is to integrate health actions into people's daily lives, using vessels to reach remote locations, including smaller rivers. Onboard technology allows connecting patients to medical care, strengthening the SUS (Brazilian Public Health System) and aligning with the Belém Action Plan, which prepares the health system to face the challenges of climate change."

The president of the National Council of SESI, Fausto Júnior, highlighted the project's alignment with the vision of integration. "SESI intends to strengthen this integration by continuing the 'Connected Health' project, which integrates with the 'SESI Connections' concept, uniting health, education, and culture. The focus is on integrating health actions into the workplace and daily life, using the 100% electric and ecological vessel, which represents the new national industry, to bring digital health, vaccination, and occupational care to the most remote communities in the Amazon region."

The president of FIEPA and regional director of SESI, Alex Carvalho, commented on the transformative role of the initiative. "The industry in Pará can expand its reach by combining development, inclusion, and preservation, replicating the sensitivity seen in the SESI Connected Health project. The key is complementing efforts, internalizing embedded technologies to bring quality and dignified healthcare to the most remote areas, such as riverside communities. This becomes a model of local contribution that promotes dignity and regional development."

Ship offers free services during COP30.

During the COP30 program, the SESI Connected Health Vessel will conduct routine telehealth consultations at the new Tamandaré Waterway Terminal, offering care to people over 18 years of age who do not present with urgent or emergency conditions. To participate, it is necessary to present your SUS Card (Brazilian National Health System card), ID, CPF (Brazilian taxpayer ID), and proof of residence. Consultations will take place from November 17th to 21st, from 9 am to 12 pm and from 2 pm to 4 pm.
